The German Nursing Association (DBfK) is Germany's leading independent professional association for nursing. Founded in 1973, its roots trace back to Agnes Karll's work in 1903, a founding member of ICN and its 1909 president. DBfK represents nursing interests at federal and state levels through its national and four regional associations. Since its beginnings DBfK stands out for the development of a strong nursing profession. It is the exclusive German representative in the International Council of Nurses and in the European Federation of Nurses.
