The International Council of Nurses’ (ICN) Congress, to be held virtually 2-4 November, will feature top influencers, leaders, politicians, artists, nursing and health experts from across the globe.
In partnership with the Emirates Nursing Association, the ICN 2021 Congress will bring together thousands of nurses from across the globe in a virtual event and will build on the vital contribution of nurses in the battle for health and well-being across the entire world.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the work of nurses, and many global leaders and artists will express their support of the incredible work that nurses do every day by taking part in the Congress.
The high-profile plenary speakers include Mr Ban Ki-moon, former United Nations Secretary General; Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization; Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and former President of Chile; and the Right Honourable Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, amongst others.
Celebrities sending in video messages to be shown at the Opening Ceremony of the ICN Congress include Oprah Winfrey, global media leader and philanthropist, and the K-pop idol band SHINee. Her Royal Highness Princess Muna al-Hussein, global health advocate for nursing and midwifery, will give the keynote speech at the Opening Ceremony.

Using the theme Nursing Around the World, ICN will pass the nursing baton across the different regions in a series of live and interactive events that will give its members the opportunity to showcase their expertise and innovations throughout the world. These regional sessions will also showcase local culture and celebrities and highlight the wide range of nursing skills and knowledge around the globe.
